If you are a Pembina Hills employee and are looking for assistance in getting started in using Moodle to build yourself an online course, there are a few things you can do:
1) Read. Read and learn a little bit about using Moodle which is an open source web framework for building online courses. http://moodle.org
2) Poke around and play with it. Even if your test course gets messed up, it can be deleted and recreated.
3) Do you have existing electronic information to post into your course, like a Microsoft Word or AppleWorks document? If you have something already, you can literally copy and paste the majority of your notes into a Moodle course and be done, if you materials are simple enough.
4) Read some more. There are lots of materials written by teachers for teachers on the Moodle website and there is a link on this site to a "Teaching with Moodle" site which is a good place for teachers to start reading and learning (yes, you will need to read, and yes, you will need to learn) how you can use Moodle in your class.
5) And finally, contact someone from PHRD Instructional Services, or talk to your site's Professional Development representative and request a class on how to use this service effectively to enhance your class.
